Explorers
2 to under 3 years old
by August 1
For many children, this is the age when the world begins to open up in new ways.
They are moving more, noticing more, communicating more, and becoming increasingly aware of the people around them.
For many families, this is the stage when a child’s first experience outside the home begins to feel more possible. At this age, being around other children often becomes more important. Young toddlers begin learning from one another, noticing one another, and growing through shared routines, parallel play, imitation, and early social interaction. Children at this age often benefit from a setting that offers caring adults, consistent routines, and regular opportunities to be around peers.
That is what we aim to provide in our Explorers program.
Explorers is our most popular program at LaFontaine Early Learning Center. Families are often drawn to this age because it is a season of rapid development, and many are looking for a place that feels both nurturing and well suited to the growing social, emotional, and developmental needs of a young toddler.
Our Explorers program serves children who are 24 months old but younger than 36 months by August 1 of the year they enroll. For example, a child born on July 10, 2024, would be in Explorers for the 2026 to 2027 school year.

This is a stage of rapid growth.
Children in Explorers are often building language, learning to follow simple routines, developing early social awareness, growing in confidence, and beginning to practice skills like sharing, imitation, and simple problem solving.

Parents are not simply looking for a place to fill the hours of the day.
They are looking for a setting where their child will be known, cared for with consistency, and surrounded by adults who bring patience, warmth, and good judgment to their work.

That confidence is earned over time.
For more than 15 years, LaFontaine Early Learning Center has served children in Madison County and built lasting trust with the parents who place them in our care.
For families looking for a first early childhood education experience, or a new beginning in a different setting, our Explorers program offers a strong place to start.
